This week, show us something that’s a HABIT. It could be your daily walk to the bus stop, or your daily paper lying on the doorstep. Maybe it’s the guy behind the counter at the deli you always visit for lunch, the stuffed bunny your child must have at bedtime, or the view from your desk as you sit down to blog.

I have to say – this challenge really made me think. First of all, these days I’ve been all about “shaking things up” and not being afraid to make a change. Of course, when we make a change in life, we don’t necessarily change our habits, too. Most likely, we’ll take some of the old habits and combine them with some new ones.
It’s been almost two months since I left my job as a teacher (whoa). My life no longer has the same routine as it did for so many years. I’ve been spending my time doing, learning, and exploring other things. But, like I said above, I’ve kept some of my old habits while swapping some for new ones:
Habit #1: The habit that will ALWAYS start my day? Coffee. No matter where I am or what I do, a cup of coffee will be a necessity. I mean, it is the best part of waking up.
Habit #2: Another oldie – lighting candles. As soon as I get home, it’s one of the first things I do! Always has been. It just makes the house cozy and relaxed. Not to mention smell better. Currently burning en la casa…pumpkin spice.
Habit #3: This is a new habit which has thankfully been swapped for an old habit – computer has taken the place of commute. (Yes!!!!) I am so thankful to have a new habit that involves my blog, reading other blogs, commenting on blogs, learning about blogs, and just spicing up my life in a whole new, creative way.
Very fun challenge! Ok, time now to shut down the Computer, blow out the Candle, and have sweet dreams until it’s Coffee time again!
Goodnight, Natalie
I love this post Natalie, we have similar habits when it comes to our daily routine. In the mornings I consider myself a zombie until I drink a cup of hot coffee, I don’t know what I would do without it – as you said, it’s the best part of waking up. I also tend to light up candles every night, they create a very relaxing atmosphere and the smell they spread around the house is just wonderful. Blogging has become a big part of my days too, what’s better than sitting in front of your computer with a cup of hot coffee under the light of a candle? 🙂
