The word community really does bring a lot images to mind. Perhaps because it contains the word “unity,” I often attribute a community with something positive and peaceful. A sense of human togetherness.
My photos for this challenge show community in one of its simplest yet most endearing forms: a lemonade stand. Taken this summer on the streets of Brooklyn Heights in New York City, I just had to stop and take a few shots of the nostalgic activity – and to buy a cup, of course.
As a once avid lemonade seller myself, it was such a treat to see the tradition live on in a different community, with a different generation. It’s sweet, innocent activities like this that bring people together…with smiles on their faces and lemonade in their glass.
