This week in Taking Notes: staying inspired with one of fashion’s top stylists. Plus, a small surprise, a spring windowsill, and remembering a beloved actor.
Noted in Inspiration
I came across this photo on Instagram via No Rest for Bridget, an awesome clothing store I visited in California. The quote stood out to me because I know that it’s true. I love being inspired or moved by something I see in my everyday life – street art, someone helping another person, children playing. I saw that the quote was by Grace Coddington. I didn’t know who she was, so I googled. I learned that she is the creative director for Vogue and just an all-around rad person. Check out this article for a video clip ond other inspiring details.
Noted in An Acting Great
When I think of some of my all-time favorite movies, I can picture James Rebhorn in all of them. And that’s because he is. Independence Day is high on the favorite list, a smash hit that my family and I first saw on July 4th. Sadly, the actor passed away last Friday at the age of 65. I read his obituary online and not only does it portray a good man outside of the movies, it was also written by Rebhorn himself. It’s definitely worth a read.
Noted in Spring Fever
Spring is (slowly) making its way to New York, so my eyes were naturally drawn to these pretty, mint green flower vases. I love the staggered heights and the way they brighten up the windowsill. The cool thing is that they’re actually glass bottles coated with pastel glass paint. Check out the complete creation process here.
Noted in A Surprise
Last night at work, my favorite customer said, “Natalie, open your hand.” I did, and he proceeded to put this small duck figurine in the center of my palm. “I found this, and I thought you’d like it.” Bill always makes me smile when I see him, but this gesture was too cute. Love that little duck. Don’t know Bill? Learn more about him here.
