It’s All an Adventure

If life were predictable it would cease to be life, and be without flavor. – Eleanor Roosevelt

The unpredictable nature of life is what makes it an adventure. Each new day brings a new opportunity for something to surprise us, inspire us, challenge us.

This day brings the start of my adventure before the adventure. In a few hours, I’ll be setting off on a cross-country road trip to California, where I will then move into a new home in a new city. Adventure, adventure!

The next few days will surely be full of unexpected events as my mother and I leave New York and city hop all the way out west. In the same regard, my last few days here at home have been an adventure as well. They’ve served as wonderful memories, but they’ve also had their share of unpredictability.

On Friday, my family and I battled the rainstorms and drove out to our favorite Mexican restaurant.

Who would of known my 89-year-old grandmother was such a phenomenal tambourine player?

The next day, a simply gorgeous Saturday, my sister graduated from her Master’s program.

Later that day, I took a drive with my brother – which, if you know my brother, is always an adventure.

Who would of known we’d make it to the lake just in time for an amazing sunset?

Saturday was a good day.

To wrap up the weekend, and celebrate both my sister’s achievement and my big move, we hosted a small backyard barbecue on Sunday.

Who would of known such simple food and drinks could taste so good?

I am so grateful for these moments with my family and friends. You all mean so much to me, and I can’t wait to have new adventures with you in my new city!

And now, it’s time to get ready, grab coffee, kiss Dad, and throw the last of my bags in the Corolla.

Who would of known so much could fit in that little car?

I hope to share some of our adventures on the blog, but I’ll definitely be updating Instagram daily with photos from our trip. (Follow along: @nataliebergen or click here.) Have a great day!
