Can you put your entire iTunes library on shuffle and just let it play without skipping a song? I can’t. While my library is chock full of my personal favorites, songs that I’ve either known for years or just Shazam’ed the other day, it doesn’t mean I want to hear them all in one sitting.
Now, I know this is why playlists were created. I’ve made several for my “Chill” songs, “Dance” songs, and even “Holiday” songs. But for this post, I wanted to see which songs in my library, no matter how different, are songs that I never skip on shuffle. So, while driving around over the past few days, I shuffled. After by-passing multiple tracks from The Essential Now That’s What I Call Christmas album, I came up with seven songs that I just couldn’t skip.
The songs are all from different genres, but I think that’s pretty representative of my taste. The beauty of music is that any given song can evoke a specific emotion and transport you to another time in your life – which is probably what makes us want to listen to favorite songs over and over again. I had fun with the seven jams by categorizing them and arranging them in an order that tells a story. Not surprisingly, it turned out to be a love story.
1. When you’re just driving around town…
This song brings me back to junior high. It always makes me smile when it comes on in random places.

2. When you’re getting ready for a night out…
Because who doesn’t love Florence? Plus, this electronic mash up is perfect for upping the energy.

3. When you meet a boy…
I like to pretend Drake is singing to me.

4. When you fall for said boy…
Probably one of the most legit songs ever. I love everything about it.

5. When some stuff goes down…
Even though this song is a bit of a heartbreaker, it’s just so completely artistic and beautiful. The lyrics, the crescendo – amazing. If you’re in the mood for a great video, watch this one here.

6. When you snap out of it…
Ok, this is another one to get that energy back up (insert parental advisory sticker). Because if you’re gonna pursue something, might as well be happiness 🙂

7. When you meet someone new…
It’s inevitable. So, just have fun.

Great list. Love a good Weezer song when I’m driving around, and Kid Cudi only gets skipped when I’m running (too slow, but I still love the message of Pursuit of Happiness).
